Dwi, Other Serious Allegations Result From Head-on Crash

Most parents would not do anything to hurt their children. Unfortunately, parents, like all people, make mistakes, and a lapse in judgment could result in a serious accident that leads to injuries for the parent and child alike. In some cases, such an incident may also lead to a DWI charge.

It was recently reported that one woman in North Carolina was charged in relation to a head-on collision. According to reports, the 43-year-old woman was driving a vehicle west with her 5-year-old daughter in the vehicle when the driver failed to maintain the correct lane. After crossing over the center dividing line, the woman’s vehicle crashed into a vehicle heading the opposite direction.

The incident resulted in both drivers and the child suffering serious injuries. The daughter had to be airlifted from the scene. At the time of the report, authorities charged the woman with driving while impaired, reckless driving, felony serious injury by vehicle and child abuse. Authorities purportedly believed that drugs contributed to the accident but did not think alcohol was a factor. Nonetheless, blood tests were underway.

This North Carolina woman is undoubtedly heartbroken over the injuries her daughter suffered and is likely concerned about her well-being and that of the other driver as well. Of course, she must also contend with the DWI and other criminal charges brought against her after this crash. It can be a difficult scenario to face all around, and it can take time to find the best ways to handle it. However, this woman can explore her criminal defense options to find a path she feels comfortable taking.
